Overview January 23-27

Monday

We will be reading chapter five of To Kill a Mockingbird.  Students should have completed notes with quotes and explantions.

Wednesday

We will be reading chapter six of To Kill a Mockingbird.  Students should have completed notes with quotes and explantions.

Thursday

We will be reading chapter seven of To Kill a Mockingbird.  Students should have completed notes with quotes and explantions.

Friday

We will be introducing vocabulary lesson 17.
We will be taking a test on chapters 4-7 and writing paragraphs that respond to one of the following prompts:

 Write a Shaffer paragraph with two CDs contrasting Burris Ewell and Walter Cunningham. 


Write a Shaffer paragraph with two CDs that compares Atticus and Miss Maudie Atkinson.

Overview January 17-20


There is no school on Monday in order to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

Students will participate in college preparedness activities this Tuesday as a part of the Freshman Academy. 

We will resume instruction on Wednesday.  Students will read chapter three of To Kill a Mockingbird.  

On Thursday, students will take a test on chapters 1-3 of To Kill a Mockingbird and write Shaffer paragraphs describing the novel’s setting. 

On Friday, students will take a test on vocabulary lessons 15 and 16 and we will introduce vocabulary lesson 17.  Students will be required to read chapter 4 beginning Monday.

Overview January 9-13

We will introduce vocabulary lesson 15.

We will introduce the novel To Kill A Mockingbird and apply the literary analysis skills we have already learned to the novel.

We will begin the week on Monday by reviewing and resetting behavior expectations as a 9th grade class.

Overview: December 5-9

We'll be reading two texts next week.  We'll read the short story, "The Lady, or the Tiger"by Frank R. Stockton and the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost.  Both texts are in chapter five of our Holt Textbook.

We'll be taking a test on "The Lady, or the Tiger" on Wednesday and a test on "The Road Not Taken" on Friday.

We'll be taking a vocabulary test for lessons 15 and 16 on Friday.

You guys did an awesome job on the selection test for "The Gift of the Magi."  Keep it up!
